Tutbury

Here are ruins of the King of Mercia’s Castle, rebuilt by John of Gaunt, in which Mary Queen of Scots was twice confined. A Norman church, with tower, and beautiful door, founded in 1080. In 1831, a great many coins, dated 1321, were found in the river Dove.
