This sea port town is situated on the river Taw, which is crossed by a bridge of sixteen arches.

Devonshire : Ilfracombe

Ilfracombe is a considerable sea port town, and now a fashionable watering place, on the north coast of Devon, near the mouth of the Bristol Channel.

This is a small municipal borough, containing a population of 5,742, chiefly employed in shipbuilding, the manufacture of sail-cloth, cordage, pottery, and bone lace.
